Aluminum

Aluminum Recycles Well

...because it can be melted down over and over without losing its integrity in the process.

It can be easily sorted out from other materials binned for recycling by households and communities.

Looking for can recycling?

Scraps from industrial sources such as auto parts, housing materials, gutters, siding & flashing, and even appliances can be re-used.

It's not just about cans.

 People have been recycling aluminum for over a century. Back in the early 1900's (close to when it was first put into wide-spread use) it was quickly discovered, "Hey, we can melt this stuff numerous times!"

 By World War II, the need to reclaim scrap aluminum and turn it into more submarines and planes boosted the recycling factories.

 Because it can be molded into so many shapes, Aluminum is the most versatile material, other than plastic, for manufacturing.

Just look around your world and see how many things are made of aluminum. Chances are at least 30% of it has been something else that was also aluminum before it's current shape and use now.

We need to all recycle aluminum, not just the soda and beer cans.
But, sad to say, the aluminum foil you used on the barbeque grill last night is not recyclable. Why? It is too thin and there is not the technology yet to successfully separate it out from other materials.
